Chief Anthony R. Scott

 

 

Chief Anthony R. Scott has over 40 years of law enforcement experience and 20 of those years as a police chief. He served 21 years with the New Orleans Police Department retiring as the administrative assistant to the chief of police. He served as the first Black Chief of Police in Athol, Massachusetts, Rock Island, Illinois and Holyoke, Massachusetts where he still served as Chief. Chief Scott was president of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives which is one of the five major police organizations in the United States. He has served in every facet of a police department to include internal affairs.

In 1990 Chief Scott was named Outstanding Law Enforcement Professional of America and a member of Who's Who in Law Enforcement. He was appointed by Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney to the Governor's Commission on Criminal Justice Innovations. Governor Jim Edgar of Illinois named him to his Commission on Gangs in Illinois. The Illinois Bar Association named him Law Enforcement Professional for the State of Illinois in 2001. Chief Scott has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Loyola University, New Orleans, with a minor in Management and he is a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy, and F.B.I. Law Enforcement Executive Development School. Chief Scott is a Paul Harris Fellow and served his country in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1967
